Barrett Centre for Technology Innovation (CTI) at Humber College, Toronto is a world-class facility, purpose-built to encourage innovation, applied research, project-based learning with industry and community partners. It is a 5 storey partial ship building with an area of 5232 sq. meters.
Sloped columns were provided to achieve the elevation of the ship-like structure. These columns were made of specialized Welded Wide-Flange (WWF) steel with highly resistant moment connections. The parapet structure was completely designed with steel. It also has a bridge portion which connects adjacent buildings with architectural elevations. The perimeter of the building is covered with concrete wall and structural steel has been connected to the walls through embed plate connections.
